The
new man, molded by God's love, is made able to participate in his own
creation, in the eternal today of the Father. What the Father said,
referring to Christ, resounds for man by the same words: "You
are my son, today I have become your father." (Heb 5:5) Man,
like Christ, receives the gift of freely assuming his human
condition: "You prepared a body for me...God, here I am! I am
coming to obey your will." (Heb 10:5-7).
As a new
Christ, this new man lives his life in a deep relationship with the
Father, who is in eternity and accepts at the same time to become
incarnate in order to share the life of man, to suffer and rise.
Even when man refuses God and mistreats his fellowmen, even
when time itself, unrestrainedly, takes away every human confidence,
the new man keeps on assuming his human condition step by step: it is
the asceticism of the present moment, where the past is praise to
God's salvation, which has already taken place, and the future is
faith in Him. In every present moment the impact with the Creating
Spirit is repeated: "Do not be surprised when I say: You must be
born from above. The wind blows wherever it pleases; you hear its
sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going.
That is how it is with all who are born of the Spirit." (Jn
3:7-8).
The Risen Jesus Community is engaged in living this
continuous rebirth and resurrection, the signs of the Risen One's
presence. In its poverty, the Community receives the infinite power
of God which has been already discovered and experienced. The
"present moment" is the merging of these two realities, it
is the charismatic instant when "nothing is impossible to God."
(Lk 1:37).
